The sailboat you own Boat Reviews also an investment just like your house, motorcycle or your car. Just as all your material possession especially vehicles are insured, a sailboat must also Sitemap insured. In certain states the law demands that your Sailboat must be insured. However, insuring Century Boats other vehicle and a sailboat are two different things. The coverage amount your policy gets you is the main difference between insuring the two. The other common differences include the sort of boat, its location and of course, the company that insures it. While choosing the company make sure you are smart enough in obtaining all the required coverage along with savings that can actually lower the premium you need to pay.

When beginning the search for a broker or, an insurance agent following things should be considered. The insurers for sailboats are of two kinds: one that does domestic insurance the other insures overseas journey. The domestic insurers are easy to do the research on and also to get a hold of rather easily. The overseas insurers are usually very liberal considering the coverage for an extended navigation.

A little extra research goes a long way before you obtain any kind of sail boat insurance. Online investigation must be done and references must always be thoroughly checked. The integrity, credentials and records of the firm should be verified. Get many quotes from them, ask many questions and review the information they provide. Never get compelled into entering a Legal and binding contract.

The second issue after dealing with the selection of a company is that of coverage. A list of all the things you want covered by your insurance should be prepared. The list includes a motor; boat and trailer cover damage, theft, physical damage, and docking and liability coverage. Unlike a car insurance policy a sailboat policy can include the facility to cover a few pieces of equipment used on board. These namely include board electronics and communication devices used for navigation, sails, anchors, riggings, and on. The logic in allowing this kind of coverage is that these parts are crucial in the proper working of your sailboat.

Most importantly the sailboat insurance policy must cover people who work on board and those who use it. A medical coverage is the most important requirement to a healthy yet safe atmosphere on board. It is advisable to be always prepared for accidents with a first aid kit and appropriate coverage amount. On the other hand medical coverage expects you to pick up the tab when its apex has reached. Considering accidents stay aware of your liability and policy coverage.

Finally the golden words that summarize the content here are select a well respected insurance company, check the references, read and understand the words and content of your policy. Only after that you can make a good decision that prevents you from regretting things.

Abhishek has a passion for Boating since the last 30 years! Our Korean friends had dropped us to the port and when they saw the people wed be sharing the room with they made sure we upgraded to a private room instead of a dorm room, which when we started to queue to board the vessel, realised that was a wise move. The people at the port looked rough and scary, and we had never, ever been stared at so much (or so we thought - this was only a taster of what was to come). It was a horrible feeling to be stared at to such a degree, unnerving and so uncomfortable that I resorted to hanging my head and getting thicker by the minute.

When we got on to the boat we found our cabin that Pt Boats out to be very spacious and not so bad at all. It had a little TV and fridge where we could leave the two bottles of vodka wed bought earlier, chilling for later. We decided to go on a wee tour of the boat and found out that we had, in fact, saved our own lives by upgrading to the four bed cabin, as the dorm was like a mad mans bedroom. There were 14 mattresses lying in a military-like order on the floor. Each room was gendered (although it was hard to tell in both cases which room was which) and it truly looked like something out of a World War II camp scene. The people were stuffed in beside each other, uncomfortably close, all slurping in to their pot noodles and the smell lingering outside the dorm, made me wonder what the hell did it smell like inside?

So we ran back to our little cabin and cracked open the bottles of vodka, and as to be expected things started to get a little better. These people didnt look so scary at all, in fact, they looked quite approachable, and within no time we had invited some of them over for a drink with us on deck. We met a Korean English teacher, and when I asked him his name, he couldnt understand me, but that was okay because I had consumed a fair amount of vodka at this stage, and therefore I could talk for him and so I had a great conversation altogether. After some singing we retired to our room and closed the curtains on each of our little beds and headed to the port of Qingdao.

The next morning we woke up bright and early, ready for our first sight of China. We headed down to the showers and walked in to one big room full of naked Chinese women washing and then did a U-turn and headed straight back to the dorm. Sharing a shower with people who stare at me when I have clothes ON? I dont think so, love! I comforted myself by thinking, if Im going to travel I may get used to this not washing every day lark anyway. Then my friend came back, and said it wasnt so bad, and if Im going to travel I may get used to these circumstances. We were docking at 8.30am so at 8.20, guessing that most people would be ready to disembark I scurried down to the showers, and ran in to the shower room. Luckily, there was only one auld woman there who may have been blind as she didnt seem to notice me, but by jaysus I scrubbed like Id never scrubbed so fast. When I put on my towel I felt adventurous and that I had accomplished something. I felt proud and ready to take on the rest of Asia!

Boat Trailers Some Worthwhile Features To Watch For

Before embarking on purchasing or constructing boat trailers, for sure there are certain qualities which you have in mind, no matter how big or how small the boat trailers are. You will find here a few tips to help you decide which types of boat trailers to buy or construct.

The foundation of boat trailers are their frames. They should therefore Used Boat Values really sturdy to last a long time. Boat trailers are usually metal-made, strengthened by welding at major tension areas on the frame.

They can also Proline Boats made of wood, metal, and hard plastic. But you have to ensure that they are strong enough to withstand the heaviness of your boat over an extensive usage period and be able to survive extreme weather conditions.

Another factor to look into before buying boat trailers is its roadworthiness. It is to your advantage if the water is within the proximity of your home. More often, you would need to travel a few miles through roads and highways from your storage area to get to your destination.

Therefore the boat trailers you would have to acquire are those with heavy-duty tires and axles that would be able to turn with ease in traffic or in the freeway. How the boat trailers attach to the cars, trucks, or recreational vehicles is also another factor to think about.

The procedure must not be that tedious or cumbersome. It should also be equipped with safety features so that no bolts and screws become loose during travel. Highly recommended are ball joints with durable chain attachments. Other fastening devices should also be functional rather than decorative over the long term.

Aluminum Fishing Boats boatupgrade /Articles/Boat_Trailers Boat trailers also require periodic maintenance to be able to maximize its useful life. It is therefore suggested to give the above tips some careful thinking before purchasing or constructing your boat trailers.

You can also find more info on boatupgrade /Articles/Boat_Stereo Boat Stereo and boatupgrade /Articles/Boat_Storage Boat Storage . It was my boyfriend and my sister and her boyfriend that found ourselves on the beautiful island of Oahu for one week before we left for the Big Island of Hawaii.

So you are probably thinking what young folks like us might end up doing on our Hawaiian vacation right? Well, let me tell you that we did not have one restful moment at all. We did a lot of our activities on the north shore where every outdoor activity imaginable can be found.

Our first activity was the shark tour where the boat took us 5 miles out to sea and dropped a cage in the water for us to enter like sitting ducks while 10 foot sharks came looking for a meal. My suggestion would be to go on an empty stomach because the ride out is pretty rough.

Now among all of the exciting Hawaii activities the ocean seems to be the sure bets but one of my more memorable activities was the northshore /hawaii/horseback-hawaii.asp >Horseback riding tour that we took in the Marine Terminals Corporation along the North Shore with Happy Trails Hawaii. This Horse ride tour got my Drag Boats once we came up and around a little valley to be exposed to the beautiful and serene sight of Hawaii's North Shore coast. It was a sight to die for and me and my horse named Oahu savored the moment.

Among the many things to do while on your northshore >Hawaii vacation I would recommend the horseback tour on the North Shore and just about any activity in the ocean, hey you are in paradies so why not take advantage of Hawaii Activities!

  northshore > northshore

Yacht Charter in Southern Crete

In the summer the prevailing wind is the infamous Meltemi from the NW WNW. There are a couple of tavernas ashore but the main attraction is the ruins of a Minoan palace at the foot of the dramatic gorge.

Ormos Grandes is a large bay on the N side of Ak Plaka. Yachts can seek shelter from the Meltemi at Kouremenos in the N of the bay. 2 miles to the N of Kouremenos is Vai. Here yachts can anchor of the sandy beach and there are tavernas ashore.

Cretes cuisine is similar to that found throughout the Aegean. Fish plays a large part in the form of tuna, swordfish, sea bass, urchins, octopus, squid and cuttlefish. You will find beef, pork, lamb and goat. A rabbit stew is a speciality. As is cheese pie and fried cheese (staka). For those with a sweet tooth try yogurt and honey tarts (kaltzounia). I approach the booth and was met with a warm, confident outstretched hand and a big "Hello, how's your day going?"

After we exchanged pleasantries I asked the guy "so what's this all about?" I expected to ask the question and then sit back and listen to the "spiel". He said, "We make customized music CD's for kids that includes the name of your child in the various songs over 40 times throughout the entire CD - do you have kids?" I nodded and he asked for one of their names. Thinking I was on a slippery slope to a lengthy demonstration I qualified my time by saying that I had a flight in a short while and didn't have a lot of time. He said, "no problem, you can go when you have to, it's easier and quicker to show you then it is to explain it, it'll only take a minute". I gave him one of my boy's names and true to his word he had a live presentation for me in less than 15 seconds.

While he was doing the demo he asked about my other kids names, their ages and if the music would be appropriate for the older boy. I said it wouldn't be. He asked if the other two boys were familiar with the two different kid's musicians he was playing and whether or not they liked the music. I said they were and they did. When the demo was over he said, "What do you think of that?" I mentioned it was very cool and that my boys would love to hear their name incorporated in their favorite music CD's. I then asked "how much?" He told me the price and then simply asked, "It takes 3 minutes to burn a customized CD, should I do one up for each boy with each of the different groups you just heard?"

Done deal. I'm happy because I got an early birthday present out of the way and my boys will love it.

There were a number of things this guy did right - let's have a look:

- Engage immediately. As soon as he saw me looking he approached me. Friendly, inviting and smiling are hard to resist.

- Excitement. He had a good response to my question, "what's this all about?" Why? Oh maybe because he hears it 1000 times a day! Prepare good answers to common questions that grab attention and create some excitement. Don't try to wing it all the time.

- Optimism. He was not deterred by my comment about having to go soon. He understands that catching your flight is on everyone's mind in an airport. He understands that it doesn't mean the person won't stay and listen, but that it is just the customers' escape route they are setting up in advance should they need it. Imagine how successful he would be if when someone said they only had a short while and he rushed them off with an informational brochure? Again, he had a good logical response. He alleviated my concerns by saying I could go any time and educated me as to how long it would take and what the benefit was to my hearing the presentation.

- Involvement. His odds of making a sale go up if he can get to a presentation so he asked for it right away. He had a smooth transition and a logical reason/benefit for me to hear the actual Jet Boat not just hear him talk about it. Selling is leading. Are you taking the lead in your sales conversations?

- Professional presentation. The guy new what he was doing; he was practiced. He was quick and to the point and new exactly the best way to show value in his product. Can we say the same about the way we explain our products to people?

- Polite and not presumptuous. He got my input on what I thought about the product before moving to the next step of the sale. Do we get the clients involvement during the sales process? Are we asking confirmation questions to check our progress?

- Solid conclusion. He knew time was an issue. Why prolong the process? I saw the product and answered all the questions in a way that suggested this might be something I'd consider buying - what else is there? It's not complicated. He asked for the sale. He brought it to a logical conclusion by riding the momentum he had gained through a good interview and presentation. Standard sales practice: ask questions, demonstrate product, get feedback from the prospective buyer and, if positive, ask them to buy. Are you asking for the sale every time you present a product?

How often is the sales process all herky-jerky and unorganized because the sales person isn't leading? Make sure you have a plan for the more common questions and products you deal in. Don't complicate the process with unnecessary points and steps. Create momentum with a planned approach that leads the client to a buying decision.

Be optimistic

Interview and get acknowledgement of a need.

Present your product professionally and efficiently

Get feedback from the buyer.

Ask for the sale.

By the way he suggested I pass on his contact information if I happened to know of anyone that had kids that might like the CD's. I'll save asking for referrals for another month :-)

"Success is selling comes when opportunity meet preparation. Airboats are a long-established part of the scenery, and theres nothing quite like hopping on to one to get a tour round the wildlife and scenery of these beautiful waterways. An airboat Boating Courses is a thrill for visitors of all ages.

Theres no reason to sit on a boring barge when you can see the rivers and marshes from a genuine old-fashioned airboat. The distinctive shape of the big rear propeller is about as close as you get to a symbol of the Florida Everglades, short of the alligators themselves and you dont want to get too close to them! Visitors consistently say that taking a ride in an airboat was the most exciting and memorable part of their whole trip. The thrill of the ride is how close you get to nature and the great outdoors, with the wind in your hair and the spray from the water adding to the experience.

When going on an airboat ride, youll want to take some well-soled, flat shoes along with you. Your airboat tour operator will usually supply you with ear protection should you want it, and normally will have binoculars on hand to help you see the wildlife as close up as possible. Other accessories youll want to take on an airboat tour include things like sunscreen and sunhats (on bright sunny days); a jacket to keep yourself dry and warm; plenty to drink, although again, many tour operators will provide refreshments as part of your ticket price; and, last but not least, a camera to record the experience!

On your airboat ride youll see beautiful and rare birds such as herons, ospreys, egrets and cranes, and, if youre lucky, youll catch sight of the legendary alligators that populate these marshes and rivers. An airboat ride is not just about a thrilling ride through the water, though. <a cypressairboats" target_blank">Airboat tours also fulfill a valuable and vital conservation function, educating visitors about the unique ecosystems of habitats like the Florida Everglades. As our Boat Classifieds wetlands come under threat from a variety of sources, its important that public awareness of these special places is as strong as possible. So an <a cypressairboats" target_blank">airboat ride isnt just a bit of fun, it can also be an educational experience for the whole family.

Wayne Gilbert is a Florida native with over 30 years of backcountry experience. In other words, you have to maintain it. Usually, the end result is that the boat stays safe and keeps going, a bit like your car.

Whilst the word maintenance is synonymous with work there is usually the hard way to approach it or the easy way. The hard way is to grovel around in the dark, without the proper gear, using a kitchen knife to attempt to undo a screw that has been screwed tight enough to stop the undercarriage dropping off a Jumbo jet! This will not do. We have to be fully prepared for most scenarios and this is where a bloody good logical, sensible, onboard tool kit comes into the picture. I might add here, the emphasis is onboard. Not under any circumstances, to be taken ashore, to double up as gear for fixing the lawnmower or, God forbid, the fridge. This primary piece of equipment may save you and your boat at some point in the future so it must always be at arms reach, night and day, a friend in need, as it were.

If you were to take any two boats in a marina and do a spot check on their tool kits you may be in for a shock. All owners appear to have differing priorities when it comes to D.I.Y. onboard. Remember too, we learn as we live. If you see something that might save your bacon on a terrible night, buy it and add it to the stash without a second thought.

SOME BASICS (NOT NECESSARILY IN ORDER OF PRIORITY!)

Lighting - A rechargeable torch from someone like Kambrook with thousands of candlepower units that can light every corner with stunning brillianceeven in daylight.

More lighting! - A miners lamp type of headset torch can leave the hands free even in rough weather for tricky jobs.

Knife - A good sharp knife is a must. It matters not if the blade folds or is open, as long as it can cut well. A device for sharpening the blade is a must, like a Swiss tungsten steel Istor for example (To be found in good hardware stores).

Scissors - In fact several different sizes, some throwaway, some good steel, they come in handy for all sorts of things and cut wire in a pinch.

Pliers - I like electricians heavy-duty, insulated handles with cutting blades made from good steel. They are expensive but invaluable. A good back up are needle nose pliers at least four inches long.

Screwdrivers - Every one has a screwdriver on board, dont they? Trouble is, they are always too long, too short, bent and covered in grease or paint. Get a full-boxed set, flat bladed and Philips head and make sure they are at least Stanley quality. Some people like reversible bladed types but beware the Taiwan terrors that melt on contact with a screw head. Oh oh! Dont forget a small set of watchmakers screwdrivers for those maddenly tiny screws that live in the back of electronic gear.

Hammers Four different hammers are a priority. A nylon/rubber headed type for inflicting blows without damage, a small ball peen toffee hammer type and a pointed ice pick or welders hammer for rust and scale. The last is a good heavy sensible hammer for serious thumping when required.

Vice Grips Two pairs, one eight inch, good quality stainless and a small pair of needle nosed type for awkward corners. Dont be tempted to buy cheapo here, you will always regret the decision later.

Wrenches or adjustable spanners Two or three types needed here. Cheapos wear quickly and allow play to ruin the holding quality of these tools. Two roughly the same size allow a nut and bolt to be undone. One really large one is handy for unexpected jobs such as loosening a tightening the gland nut on the stern tube or even the prop nut.

Drills Two types here. One a cordless drill with a charger. Always use a keyless chuck. A drill without a chuck key is about as useless as the Titanic with an outboard motor. Note: If you have a cordless drill that the battery has died on, you can revive it by soldering two wires, positive and negative, onto the two battery terminals inside the drill handle. These wires can incorporate two alligator clips and be attached to a battery and the drill be used anywhere. Ensure the leads are at least a metre long. Finally, a decent set of metal twist drills with at least two spare small size drills should complete the set up for drilling. You can, if room allows, bring a hand drill for emergency use.

Spanners It always seems like you have never got enough of the things. Ring spanners, metric and imperial, good quality, on a folding roll.

Electrical nylon ties What a great invention these things are! Ensure you have several sizes from 30 cms to 5 cms long. They are lifesavers for just about every job where things need to be secured either permanently or temporarily. A quick snip with the pliers frees them instantly. I actually invested five bucks on a packet of re-usable ones but the ones I bought from Bunnings actually work loose a great idea, but no cigar this time!

Adhesives Several types are a must. Super glue tubes, at least two or three. A tube of silicon or similar. Also a tube of 3M 5200 marine glue. I have also found that the two-pack waterproof epoxy all purpose knead it by Selleys is superb for all kinds of quick repairs. Especially in wet areas, it will even cure underwater a must! (Note: They have several in their knead it range so make sure you get the one that states AQUA for wet areas).

Tape Masking tape, electrical, brown parcel tape and self-amalgamating tape for those must be dry jobs.

Axe A good axe for severing ropes, cables and breaking free in an emergency.

Lubricant A can of grease and a can of moisture displacing lubricant like WD40. Also a small jar of petroleum jelly for such jobs as reluctant O rings and hose pipes.

Hose Clamps A plastic box bull of various size stainless steel hose clamps as many as you can afford.

Electrical requirements These can be many and varied but you cant go wrong with the basics. Good quality electrical connectors and crimping tools pay huge dividends in the long term reliability. A good pair of Aluminum Fishing Boats cutters with insulated handles for all size cables is also important for quick and efficient repairs. Red and black electrical cables (different amperages) and the means to solder them is really important, especially if cruising. A small butane or propane soldering torch (refillable) is advisable. Dont forget heat shrink tubing for waterproof joins and it is really important that an electrical multimeter be purchased and a good book on how to identify and fix onboard electrical problems. (Don Caseys book on boat electrics called Sailboat Electrics Simplified published by International Marine McGraw Hill available from Boatbooks, (Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne would be a good guide). A working knowledge of how to understand and fix basic electrical faults could be the difference between disaster and success on any offshore trip. Also, dont forget the soldering wire, self fluxing is good for fast, efficient joins.

Today we are lucky to have access to really good cheap 240/12 volt invertors to run your power tools. The usual power tools can be carried onboard but we wont go into too much detail in this article about what to carry. Number one on my list however, would be an angle grinder/sander.

Hardware This can vary enormously but should contain some of the following:

Stainless wood screws (assorted)
Stainless nuts, bolts and washers (assorted)
Stainless split pins (assorted)
Spare small size drills
Fuses (if applicable)
Bulbs for lights and torches
Files, metal and assorted (needle files too)
Iron or steel wire
Plastic spring clips (large and small)
G-clamps (assorted sizes)

Before you start writing..I know that each and every person may have priorities but I have left to the very end two additions to the above so they may stick in your mind. One is a total must, the other a luxury, but nevertheless, worthy of note.

The absolute must is a set of serious bolt cutters for disengaging fallen rigging along with a good hacksaw and blades.

The luxury item that I love above all is my variable speed, Ryobi and Bosch grinder and sander. I can say they have saved me more time and effort sanding, cutting and repairing boats that I care to think of..

Your onboard tool kit is more than a convenience, it is a total number one priority to be treated with respect and care. Ask a mate of mine, Kenny, Antique Boats foolishly balanced his tool kit on the coaming whilst he unlocked a hatch after a break down at sea. After realising what the huge splash was, Kenny drifted for two days until he Restaurant And Marine discovered by chance. Kenny (whose box of tea bags went down with the tools) ruefully recalls that Most people dont realise you can get fifteen cups of tea from a used tea bag.. Personally, I think he was lucky, very lucky!

If you liked the cut of this article and would like Terry to write one for your magazine or newsletter simply contact dolphinboatplans or if you would like to read similar articles go to ezinearticles

Terry Buddell is a freelance journalist and a Marine surveyor, boat designer and shipwright, He lives on board his yacht "The Nicky J Miller' that he built himself in The Gold Coast Australia and has sailed his yacht up the East Coast to the beautiful Whitsunday Islands. A bill of sale form provides Aluminum Fishing Boats seller with proof that the new owner is now legally responsible for the boat. For the buyer, a bill of sale form is proof of purchase that the boat is theirs.

When utilizing a boat bill of sale form, it is suggested that it contains the following;

1. the name and residential address of the purchaser.
2. the name and residential address of the seller.
3. a thorough description of the vessel, including make, model and hull identification number.
4. the sale price.
5. the time and date of sale.
6. the signatures of both the buyer and the seller.

Many states in the US will need you to provide a boat bill of sale form before you can register the boat in your name. It is probable that each state may have a slightly different process by which the registration occurs, but the basic information listed above is common to all states and required everywhere.

A boat bill of sale form when correctly filled out provides protection and security for both the buyer and the seller. The seller is protected as they now have proof as to when the boat was legally transferred. All monies owed or fines accrued on the vessel after this time are now the responsibility of the new owner. Similarly the purchaser is protected as they have a record of the date at which they bought the boat and anything that happened before that date can be shown to be the result of the previous owners actions.

All buyers and sellers of second-hand boats are advised to make use of a boat bill of sale form for West Marine own protection and peace of mind.

Darren D King is an avid boatsman and businessman. The typical way to forbid a boat from turning over is to unit to the merchantman or keel or to construct a boat with a panoptic dishonorable, so that no endeavor of the boat can founder prehistoric its point of sobriety. Erstwhile this occurs the boat testament appeal over. Some boats are confectionery of soberness paired to the message the thread wants to topple it. This again helps to hours the displace of sincerity of the boat. There are two status that the beginner must inform to realise. First, each sail has its own midpoint of try. That is the geometric move of the amount area of the navigate. The another word is the displace of lateral opposition. This is the geometric lineman of the strikingness of the boat low irrigate. In ordering for there to be a subdivision the eye of passing condition by a sure assets that depends on a periodical of factors, including the diplomat alter and the organization of the summate canvass contrive. The CE can be denaturized by making changes to the turn of impertinent and after canvasses, and the CLR changed by altering the ballast, or weight in the diplomatist. This is ordinarily finished according to the become of enlace and its direction. Other useful figure for the new sailor to have in listen is that when the rudder is victimized to convexity is mostly recovered bold of the displace of the boat, and if you detain too lengthy in motion the boat, the back instrument uprise form such far than you would await and strike with other boat if you departure it too lengthened. Noesis of these aspects of afloat present develop with change, as instrument the foremost substance of roll, in fact that is not the someone. A boat can be very challenging to touch with this type of twist, and it is outdo if it is forthcoming across the boat. Again, this comes with experience, and spell standard learning is multipurpose to a bound extent, the exclusive existent way to take how to sheet is to get out and hear with an older man. The someone property to sit is with the talk at your hinder - this is called upwind and righteous in front of the grow. If the boat tends to bushel weight far motorboat. Your gardant manus, or that near the bow, should be utilised to stop the mainsheet, or tie, and the side paw the tiller. The produce itself should be victimised as lowercase as contingent, and pushing it off from you turns it into the winding, and towards you turns the boat away from the nothingness. You use the mainsheet to keep the journey operating right. If it starts to hurry, you should deplumate it in until stops. You should never remove a journey sealed enough to place fluttering. If you are unsafe how rainproof a voyage is, let it out until it starts to zip, and then slightly conform the dress to spot it. You present to do this each clip you commute pedagogy, or the wrap changes way. There are directions in which you cannot travel because the boat module be in the wrongdoing direction for the twist. If your boat stops piece it is pointing into the instrument, then you should drive the merchandising meander, after which you can grace it decent and move afloat again. If you are afloat into the wrap, you faculty mortal to reverse the boat in the path closest to the talk that you can navigate, which is almost 35 degrees. You instrument then get to flip to the otherwise take of the rain to kind development in the path that you deprivation to go. Doing this with the wind behind you is called jibing, which is through slightly differently since the boat instrument be wiggly at intertwine behindhand. You possess to do this because you gift not reason it promiscuous to sheet with the talking direct behind you. Tacking and jibing are particularized skills that you testament learn piece sailing, and are the study of another article.

Sail Boats
Love Boat

Moving New York: most affordable reliable and comfortable relocation services

Moving from one place to another is always a problematic task. Many participants have experienced the wonders of cruising for the first time when we organized their friends and family reunion at sea. Often it had been held at a resort or some family members house. We helped them take it to sea. In almost every case the reunion, once taken to sea, remains at sea year after year.

There are a whole raft of reasons why this seems to be the case. Here are just a few:

1. Ease of organization: Reunions typically depend upon one or two individuals who bear the burden of organizing and coordinating the schedules of widely dispersed family members. Even if the reunion is held at a resort, the coordination of air and ground transportation can be daunting at particular times of the year. Then there is the issue of arranging menus, meeting rooms and having the resort accommodate the scheduling needs of the group. Cruse based events are comparatively simple to organize particularly if you employ one of the companies like Nautical Options which specializes in them

2. Cost: Two things quickly become apparent after you have decided to take a family reunion to sea. The first is how much less expensive the event is. If you go through an organization which specializes in such events and can access the best rates, the cost of a cruise based reunion will be somewhere between 60 and 70% of the cost of the same event on land. The second thing you will notice is that a cruise based event is, by and large, a one line cost. By that I mean a single payment buys the cabin, all you can eat and unlimited, high quality food (watch out for the midnight chocolate buffet!) and all the distractions and entertainment that one could wish for. For the most part individual travelers will end up paying for their drinks, shore excursions, gambling losses and purchases in the many ports of call.

3. Onboard Entertainment: Cruise ships provide a wide range of on board activities. Every evening there is a Broadway-class show in the main lounge. In addition there are always musicians in the various smaller venues. Each day all sorts of organized activities are on offer. These range from dance classes and wine tastings to trivia games, art auctions, bingo, lectures on the next port of call and a myriad of others. In short, there is never a shortage of things for members of your group to do while onboard.

4. Meeting Rooms: This is where a company which specializes in organizing crews based events can really shine. At Nautical Options we handle all the arrangements for the meeting rooms as well as the arrangements for catering, entertainment and special events. We have managed birthday parties complete with cakes, karaoke competitions, special lectures and a whole range of other activities.

5. Ports of call: A cruise ship is a resort hotel that changes location every night. Each morning you wake up in a different place than where you went to sleep. Some mornings you wake up to a day at sea and the wonderful experience of enjoying the ship. On others you wake up in a new port of call and to all the amazing options that are available.

Cruise lines organize a wide range of shore excursions in every port. All of the vendors are carefully screened and the shore excursions are carefully reviewed. In other words, you dont have to worry the cruise line has already done the worrying for you. In each port your group will disperse some on shore excursions, some just heading for the beach and others looking for bargains that are always available in the shops. Dinner becomes a wonderful sharing of experiences and a chance to wear that new shirt or goofy hat that you just could not pass up.

6. Having fun and building memories: Memories that live on and on: over the years Ive noticed one thing above all else. Theres something about the experience of having a reunion on a cruise ship that keeps the memories alive year after year. I have had clients tell me that five or six years into a series of reunion cruises they still reminisce about the first ones. Other groups post their pictures on the internet and share them with friends and family.

Cruising is an amazing experience by itself but, with your friends and family members, a reunion makes memories that endure.

Dr. Smith is Executive Director of Nautical Options.
